Biofuels Framework Law 27.640 (2021)

Gasoline must contain 12% bioethanol and diesel a minimum 7.5% biodiesel blend.

Timeline

  1. 2021

    Law 27.640 replaces the earlier 26.093 regime.

  2. 2022

    Biodiesel minimum set at 7.5%; ethanol held at 12%.

  3. 2026

    Framework remains in force with periodic price resolutions.

  4. 2030

    Law scheduled for review and possible extension.
